Course Overview

The MLI Certified Trainer: Training & Facilitation Certificate is designed for early childhood professionals, coaches, mentors, technical assistance specialists, consultants, administrators, and subject matter experts who want to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-impact professional development experiences.

This comprehensive program guides participants through the entire training cycle, from planning and preparation to delivery, participant engagement, evaluation, and follow-up support. Participants learn how to create meaningful learning experiences that inspire adult learners, strengthen professional practice, and promote lasting implementation.

Prerequisite Requirements

To enroll in the Train-the-Trainer Certification Program, participants must have a minimum of two years of professional experience in early childhood education serving children from birth through age 12.

No prior trainer certification is required.

Designed for individuals who are new to training or have less than five years of professional training experience.

Requirements:

  1. Early childhood education experience
  2. Minimum State Staff Credential or equivalent

This certification serves as the foundation of the MLI Professional Development Pathway. Participants learn how to design, deliver, and evaluate high-impact professional development for adult learners.

Application Approval Required

All applicants must submit a completed application and receive approval before enrolling in the program.

The Science of Adult Learning

Participants will explore research-based principles of adult learning and discover how factors such as learner motivation, learning preferences, instructional strategies, training design, engagement techniques, and learning environments influence professional growth and training outcomes.

Special emphasis is placed on creating learner-centered experiences that move beyond information sharing to meaningful application and behavior change.

Practice and Performance

The MLI Certified Trainer program is highly interactive and includes opportunities to apply newly acquired skills through guided activities, collaborative discussions, and training demonstrations.

As part of the certification process, participants will design and deliver a training presentation and receive constructive feedback to strengthen their facilitation skills, presentation techniques, and learner engagement strategies.
